EMBRACE
Educating Members to Become Resourceful AEPhis Championing Equity
We heard the call from many of our sisters for the need to incorporate more diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging programming and education in our curriculum. As an organization, we pride ourselves on inspiring and supporting exemplary women, dedicated to helping women become the best they can be. We prize individuality, and encourage our members to discover and develop the talents and abilities that make them unique. Our founders had a vision to foster lifelong friendship, sisterhood, academics, social involvement, and community service.
We are proud to introduce EMBRACE: Educating Members to Become Resourceful AEPhis Championing Equity. With EMBRACE, we will honor the values of our founders, while continuing to provide lifelong education for both collegiate and alumnae members.
EMBRACE is a 12-month program allowing sisters to focus on the numerous areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. The monthly program is intended for our entire membership, both collegians and alumnae. Each month will examine a different subject or theme and provide content for members to read, watch, or listen to, and conclude with debrief questions meant to foster communication and learning.
The goal of these monthly programs is to continue to build upon our existing knowledge, while continuing to have conversations around race, religion, social, and societal inequities and inequalities. Our EMBRACE programs will open up new avenues for productive conversations and ideas to help serve marginalized communities. Service rendered to others is at the core of our AEPhi values; there is a lot of work to do in this area and we hope EMBRACE will provide our sisterhood the foundation to begin tikkun olam (repair the world).
